In this digital age, most people have numerous accounts on different websites in the Internet. It can be an e-mail, social media, online shopping, online magazine, and other sites that require a person to have an account.
However, most of the time people don’t know that their account has already been hacked or compromise. Sometimes it will just be too late because you can no longer access it.
Fortunately, the president and CEO of CynergisTek, a cybersecurity consulting firm, tells us that there’s an easy and fast way to check if your account was hacked.
He suggested that the best way to do that is to go to HaveIBeenPwned.com and check if your account has been hacked or compromised. Just enter your e-mail address to the information bar and click “pwned”.
After doing that, the system will check your account that you’ve entered if it was compromised. But what will you do if you find out that you have been hacked?
The best way to secure your account is to immediately change your password. It is highly suggested to use strong passwords so that it won’t be easily hacked by other people.
Moreover, don’t use your names or simple words because it’s easy to compromise that.
Certainly, it is much better to use a number and word combination that should be 12 characters long. Yes, it may be hard to remember but at least it’s safe.
Above all, changing your password every 4 months is one of the best ways to make sure that all your accounts are safe from hackers.
