A woman from India feared in her local village because of her extra fingers and toes enters Guinness World Records.
Kumari Nayak, 63, was branded a witch in her village in Kadapa, Odisha. She has 19 toes and 12 fingers.
Mrs. Nayak beats the previous record holder who is also Indian named Devendra Suthar, 47, with 14 fingers and 14 toes.
She was actually born with “polydactylism” that is formed in the womb during the sixth or seventh week of pregnancy.
The condition occurs in one in a thousand babies born worldwide. Nevertheless, the deformation can be corrected with surgery.
However, the woman from India cannot afford to get treatment no matter how much she is already enduring from her locals who are bullying her.
“I am forced to stay indoors as I am being treated differently which is not a nice way of treatment from my neighbors,” she said in the report.
Meanwhile, her neighbors expressed their grief toward the other villagers, forcing her to be in isolation for a long time.
Upon hearing the condition of the woman, the district government offered her a new home and applied for her regular pension.
Further, the officials said they are doing their best to rest awareness about her condition and it does bring any bad omen.
