In 2011, the government of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) declared that the capital will change from Yangon to Naypyidaw. However, people are saying that Naypyidaw is like an abandoned city.
The city of Naypyidaw is Burmese capital and only a few people have heard of it. In fact, people are claiming it to be a mysterious city located in the middle of the forest.
Most immigrants and laborers don’t want to visit or live in the abandoned city. They prefer to commute every day from Yangon than to reside in Naypyidaw.
A huge amount of money was spent for the purpose of allowing millions of people to live in the city.
But there are only a few people living there and only a few workers as well. The city is most likely vacant even though it is the new capital of Myanmar.
The roads are almost empty with only a few cars driving in it which is quite a mystery until today.
People are saying that there are rumors about the underground tunnels constructed by operators from North Korea.
One resident commented, ‘this city is primarily for government staff and government buildings. it’s not very fascinating here.
Most people are not that happy. They are just residing here because they earn money from the available work here.’
Another weird location in Naypyidaw is the airport. There are only a few workers at their new airport. It is almost empty, and it has remained idle since it opened in 2011.
The records are stating that the population of the city is 1 million, but this is an exaggeration according to most people.
The goal of the city of Naypyidaw is to be a worldwide tourist center, but it didn’t happen. It was more like a mysterious abandoned city even though it is the capital of a country.
