Reports have confirmed that Star Wars actress Natalie Portman is set to return to the Thor franchise. However, not only will she be back, she will be the new Thor.
According to Taika Waititi, the Kiwi-born director who took the film series to a whole new level, he was able to on-board Portman to the new movie.
Apparently, a couple of years back, Natalie Portman had a falling out with Marvel for her portrayal of Jane Foster, Thor’s love interest. Evidently, she did not want to return to the film series anymore just to work on the damsel in distress role. Fortunately, things took a different turn when Waititi reached out to her to ask if she would want to come back to film for a different role. Notably, he did not mention outright what the role would be. Yet as cunning and intelligent as Portman was, she understood the reference.
However, Taika Waititi dispels rumors that Love and Thunder’s script has been completed. According to him, they have not yet even started on it. At this time, one thing’s for sure: Natalie Portman takes on the hammer as Thor.
With the release of the fourth movie, Thor would have the most number of movies across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Traditionally, a trilogy works to complete a story arc. However, with what Director Taika Waititi did for Ragnarok effectively green-lighted the plans to continue the Thor movie series.
