Apparently, boxing legend Manny Pacquiao just bought his 18-year-old son, Jimuel, his very first ride.
For teenagers receiving their first car, it would mean that they’re readying up for transitioning to adulthood and being on their own. In the US, parents dole out cars to their children upon getting into a university. In the Philippines, however, parents on a budget would dole out, at best, a second hand, worn-out car upon their kid’s graduation. Although mostly, kids just receive a legit pat on the back for a job well done.
Manny Pacquiao cashes in
But if you’re one of the highest-paid athletes in the world, you have the luxury to up the notch. In a video, Manny Pacquiao’s eldest son is seen showing off his brand new 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that his dad got him.
According to news reports from the Philippines, what’s under the hood of the Stingray is a 6.2 Liter V8 engine that can produce 460 horsepower and 621Nm of torque.
In essence, the car can rev up from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just under 4 seconds. However, given the traffic conditions in the Philippines, we beg to wonder how Jimuel Pacquiao can throttle up the car.
By TopGear’s price calculation, the 2019 Limited Edition Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that Pacquiao bought costs P8,546,888 ($160-170,000) in the Philippines. However, as far as Pacquiao’s horde of cash is concerned, this amount is just for a change.
According to reports, Pacquiao’s net worth figures to be around $200-250 Million. Despite his advancing age, however, Manny Pacquiao seems to just get better with age. In particular, he’s on a boxing winning streak since 2018. Furthermore, the pound for pound legend just cashed in over $26 Million for 2019. Thus making him the 92nd highest-paid athlete in the world.
Getting his son a Corvette? Not a big thing.
