Laurent Simons is a 9-year-old prodigy. He has left his university following a dispute on his graduation date.
Laurent, age 9, made the world news in November. Because of his age his going to finish his studies in electrical engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands in December.
Now a dispute between TUE and his parents has seen that Laurent terminate his studies without graduating. TUE said that they recommended Laurent to finish his studies mid-2020, rather than finishing it in December. This was because there are so many exams still to finish.

TUE said that Laurent’s father, Alexander Simons,
Repeated his explicit wish that his son should obtain his bachelor degree at the age of 9, which means that Laurent must successfully complete his bachelor within ten months for a study that normally lasts three years.
The family decided that Laurent would leave TUE because he received an offer to study a doctorate in the US. But the family still not fixed Laurent’s start date at the US university. This is where Laurent will study his Ph.D. in electrical engineering.
