Jennifer Lopez and Shakira recently confirmed they are headlining the 2020 Pepsi Superbowl Halftime show next February. After much speculation, we finally have confirmation, and the NFL is about to get some serious girl power!
Both superstars took to Twitter to share the news. Shakira, a Grammy award-winning singer, posted a photo of Lopez with a Pepsi-branded ring and a belt buckle. “Get ready,” she teased.
Lopez, also a Grammy winner, did the same and shared a stunning photo of Shakira with a Pepsi-branded armband. “This is happening,” Lopez wrote.
Lopez and Shakira, both Latin performers, have released music in English and Spanish since the 1990s.
“It’s made even more special not only because it’s the NFL’s 100th anniversary, but also because I am performing with a fellow Latina,” Lopez said in a press release.
” I feel incredibly honored and humbled to be, in a way, next to J.Lo,” said Shakira.
Jennifer Lopez, Shakira join a definitive list of artists who have performed at Super Bowl
Among those who have previously performed at the Superbowl are Maroon 5, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, and Lady Gaga.
Both Lopez and Shakira are famous not only for their party-starting music but also for their dance moves. Fans can definitely expect the Superbowl to get its fair share of dancing next year.
In a statement, Pepsi’s vice president of marketing Todd Kaplan said, “These two remarkable artists are setting a new precedent for what this show can become, and we’re confident that this will be an incredible performance for the ages.”
Super Bowl LIV will take place on February 2, 2020, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. Coincidentally, the date falls on Shakira’s birthday.
