Love is such a wonderful feeling and the most desirable thing that any human being would like to feel. However, love is often mistaken as infatuation, therefore, making it conditional and not true love.
There are two types of love: conditional love and unconditional love. Conditional love is a love that is based on “conditions”.
Examples are: “If you do this and that, I will love you”, “If you become like this or become like him/her, I will love you”, “If you start doing this and stopping that, I will love you”.
As you noticed, there is always the word “if” at every start of the sentence, making it conditional.
It makes you believe that in order to deserve that intensity of love, you have to do a certain thing and please the person just to gain their love for you.
On the other hand, unconditional love is centralized on acceptance at the same time making the person realize his/her wrongful acts and bad attitude that hinders him/her to become a better person.
Examples of this kind of love are: “I love you even if you fart so bad”, “I love you even if you always look tired”, “I love you even if you do not appreciate me”, “I love you even if you love someone else”.
Hurtful, isn’t it? That is the test of true love. That even if it is hurtful for you in a lot of ways, you will always choose what the other will be happy about.
At the end of the day, their happiness is more important than yours.
How about you? Have you ever felt true love?
