Four men issued with death warrants for the brutal gang rape of a 23-year-old physiotherapist student in New Delhi. This happened more than seven years ago.
The four men on Tuesday ordered to hang this month for gang-raping the student on a bus in 2012. She died weeks later as a result of injuries during the incident.
The hanging scheduled 7am on January 22 at Tihar Jail India’s Capital. The court announced this via video conference.

The accused men can still file a petition against the sentencing within the next 14 days. And if it would be successful they would go to the Supreme Court.
They were sentenced to death in September 2013, with the decision upheld four years later following a lengthy administrative process.
A fifth man died by suicide in prison 2013, while a sixth was a juvenile and sentenced to three years in prison.
The police said that the men took turns in raping the woman as the bus drove around for over an hour. When they finished, they dumped her and her friend at the side of the road.
The woman’s mother broke down after the judge passed the order. Speaking to reporters outside the court, she said.

A lawyer representing the family, Seema Khushwaha, said.
The decision will act as a deterrent in such cases in the future.
