First Electronic Seaplane in the Commercial Takes Off

The company Magix fully releases it’s first electronic Seaplane and takes off for its first flight.

MagniX Motors and Harbour Air is behind of the project of this electronic Seaplane.

So the plane has a 750-horsepower (560 kW) magni500 propulsion system.

And it can load up to 6 passengers.

And on the test flight, it was tested to fly with an average of 15 minutes prior to it’s take off.

The Harbour Air and magniX stated:

“This historic flight signifies the start of the third era in aviation – the electric age.”

Powered by a Lithium battery, it can fly about 160 km (100 miles).

Harbour Air hopes that by 2020, this e-plane would be commercialized.

Roei Ganzarski, magniX CEO said:

“The range is not an issue for them. Today’s batteries can provide them exactly the range that they need to operate.”

He also added the advantages of an electric airplanes.

“If you look at a five-year lifecycle of operating a traditional gas engine, together with all the significant maintenance that’s required for that kind of engine because they’re so complex, and all of the fuel that’s burned, it is significantly cheaper to convert and operate an electric aircraft,”

The took almost six months of testing and finally they did it.

“Today, we made history. Launching the world’s first electric commercial aircraft retrofitted with a 750 horsepower all-electric magni500 propulsion system. Thank you to our amazing maintenance team and our partners at MagniX for all your efforts! Together, we did it!”
