At least two ex-James Bonds have expressed their support over the casting of a woman to be the new James Bond.
Apparently, Pierce Brosnan and George Lazenby mentioned that the idea to have a female play the role doesn’t really sound bad.
Last week, Brosnan shocked the media when he mentioned that he would want to see a woman play the iconic role. In an interview, he mentioned that “I think we’ve watched the guys do it for the last 40 years. Get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there. I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting.”
Likewise, Geoge Lazenby, who played the role once in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in 1969, offered suggestions towards the role. He mentioned that “She would have to be seductive and she would have to not be afraid of getting information in any way she could”. Furthermore, he quipped “A female James Bond? It is becoming that way in life – the way that women are starting to take over the world.”.
2/7 Ex-James Bonds support the possibility
Notably, James Bond has traditionally been portrayed as a male over the course of its more than 50-year run. Subsequently, a total of 7 male actors have assumed the role of James Bond throughout its 26 films run from 1962 to date. Apparently, the film franchise figures as one of the longest-running film franchises of all time.
The entire “James Bond as a female” fiasco began with a number of leaks from the new movie No Time To Die. In the movie, the code 007 apparently referred to a woman, and not James Bond himself. Hence, this floated ideas and opinions about why not trying to make the character female.
What about you? What do you think of a female taking over the role of James Bond?
