A 6.4 magnitude earthquake hits Albania. At least 23 people killed, several more are missing and hundreds more injured after the quake on Tuesday.
The Earthquake hits Albania, being the strongest in 40 years
The quake hit the European nation at an approximate depth of 20 kilometers early in the morning, Tuesday local time. Further, According to the United States Geological Survey, it is the strongest quake that hit Albania in over 40 years.
The epicenter was at the port city in Durres, it is about 36 kilometers from the capital Tirana. Social media videos from the area show that several buildings brought down.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama’s office revised the death toll several times on Tuesday as more and more people die. At least four people died in Durres, spokesman Endri Fuga said. Another two died in Thumane. One person even jumped from a building in panic in Kurbin.
More than 650 receive medical attention throughout the day. Fuga added that 30 people being treated in hospitals.
Fuga did not want to speculate on how many people are still missing but search and rescue teams continue their work all night in the affected areas.
Schools were closed in three cities Durres, Lezhe, and Tirana after the quake.
