It seems that Cruella de Vil traded away the furs for a punk rock leather jacket in the new teaser.
Plans to create a live adaptation of the Disney Classic 101 Dalmatians were unveiled a couple of years back. But today these plans have been fully revealed to the public.
Oscar-nominee actress Emma Stone is set to star as the hideous villain, Cruella de Vil. However, this version tends to be different from what we have come to know. Ideally, we would expect the said villain to don animal fur coats (as she was known for it) and portray an extravagant lifestyle. However, this does not seem to be the case for this new adaptation.
According to reports from the D23 Expo, this movie’s setting would be placed in London during the Punk Rock and Rock ‘n Roll era of the ’70s. It now begs to wonder what Robert Smith, lead vocals of the band The Cure, thinks of the outfit.
Cruella de Vil is the perennial villain in the Disney Classic 101 Dalmatians. A story about dalmatians and their owners whose puppies were kidnapped in order to be made into fur coats.
Joining Emma Stone in the cast are Emma Thompson (Harry Potter), Paul Hauser (I, Tonya), and Paul Fry. The film will be directed by Craig Gillespie.
Cruella will be showing in theaters on May 21, 2021.
