Mixed martial arts super star Conor McGregor announced his return to the octagon yesterday. The 31 year old fighter makes his much-awaited return on January 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, details on his upcoming match have remained undisclosed.
In a press conference, the MMA legend announced that
“I would like to announce the return of ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor will take place on January 18th in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada,”.
Since his defeat to Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov more than a year ago, McGregor has not had a professional fight. The MMA legend looks to end his semi-retirement this January as he faces whomever the octagon lets him face.
According to reports, McGregor stated that the highly-anticipated rematch with Nurmagomedov is “inevitable”. However, it does not seem as if his return fight would be with the russian. Furthermore, Connor McGregor got quoted in saying that:
“As far as the opponent, I have the opponent’s name. But from the game I’m in and from experience, if I was to give you his name, which I would love to do, I know the UFC would flip it because they are a craft company. Ask the UFC who the opponent is because I do not give a f**k who the opponent is. I am going to go through the entire roster like a chainsaw through butter.”
Conor McGregor in the news for the wrong reasons
Despite being out of the octagon for quite some time, the Irishman has not had a rather chill off-season, apparently. Earlier this year, Conor McGregor figured in headlines with a video released in social media. In particular, the video shows McGregor punching a man in the head at an Irish Pub. Similarly, McGregor also got arrested in Miami just weeks before. According to reports, McGregor allegedly smashed a fan’s phone.
