A number of unconfirmed reports claim that British rock band Coldplay is set to release a new album in a couple of weeks.
It has been more than four years since the band released their last full-length album A Head Full of Dreams. Since then, the band has been awfully quiet about their activities and plans. Fortunately, yet despite the rumors, the band seems to be back in business. Numerous unconfirmed, yet unrelated reports claim the same idea that the band plans to release an “experimental” album by November. Accordingly, the same reports state that another, more Coldplay sounding album will be released soon after.
According to Matt Whitecross, the director of the Coldplay documentary A Head Full of Dreams:
“They’re on a sabbatical at the moment so they’ve been ruthlessly on holiday for a year. They’ve never done that before. I don’t know if you can call Chris a workaholic because he loves what he does; he’s in and out of the studio writing three or four songs a day. This year, they decided to take off. They haven’t been doing anything as far as I know, but they do have plans for next year however I’ve not been party to them.”
However, band members have been seen coming in and out of the studios despite being on sabbatical. In particular, drummer Will Champion, and bassist Guy Berryman registered a new song entitled Conscious Pilot. While frontman Chris Martin performed alongside Kylie Minogue at Glastonbury.
Coldplay is ripe for a comeback
After the back-to-back release of 2014’s Ghost Stories and 2015’s A Head Full of Dreams, the band has not released any new music. Hence, fans believe it’s about time this quartet released new material.
Coldplay gained worldwide popularity after the release of their single “Yellow” in 2000. Since then, the band has continuously sold-out stadiums, arenas, and open fields all throughout the globe. The band consists of vocalist Chris Martin, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer Will Champion and guitarist Jonny Buckland.
