Even a black bear roaming around the peaceful streets of Florida has expressed its deep love for Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
The Fort Myers News-Press reported last May 26, 2020 that a juvenile 250-pound bear was spotted around 4:00 AM of Fort Myers in Florida.
It was meandering the streets and jumping off fences of other people’s homes. According to wildlife officials, bears are commonly seen around the area during Spring. This is to search for soulmates and food.
However, giving the 18-months old bear a tranquilizer was not the best option. This is according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Officer Adam Brown. The bear was roaming around a crowded area.
Drugs do not usually immediately take effect to big animals. It may just cause disruption of traffic or they may enter to residential areas.
Instead the officers went running to a nearby Krispy Kreme store. They bought a box of doughnuts with a whiff of some blueberry pie-scented spray in a trap.
Consequently Officer Brown reported that the bear was relocated to a state-managed wildlife protected area. Florida houses about 4,000 black bears.
Moreover Wildlife officials said that residents should secure their garbage cans and should not be left outside at night. The juvenile bears might probably target these stuff.
