Bridge collapsed in southwest France leaving one dead. One person has died after a bridge in a small town collapsed.
The bridge leading to the small town of Mirepoix-sur-Tarn in southwest France collapsed at about 8 am on Monday. The accident occurred when the bridge starts collapsing and sending a car plunging into the river below.
A 15-year old girl died 8 am local time, Toulouse prosecutor Karline Bouisset said. The girl’s mother was rescued by the witnesses at the scene.
According to the prosecutor, the accident involved three vehicles. Authorities opened an investigation as to which caused the bridge to collapse.

The 150meter long bridge had a weight limit and initial reports suggested that a large lorry had driven onto it when it collapsed
They say that over 60 emergency workers were at the scene. Local authorities have urged the people to stay away from the area because it is not passable due to the incident. And as an added precaution the nearby Villemur suspension bridge has also been closed.
