After more than 22 years, Ash Ketchum, the star of the beloved cartoon show Pokemon has finally become a Pokemon Master.
The 10-year-old boy who never seemed to age throughout the anime’s 22 years run finally won the title of Pokemon Master. Thus, giving justice to one of the cartoon’s catchiest lines – to be the best like no one ever was.
In the most recent episode of Pokemon The Series: Sun and Moon, Ash finally gets to complete the contest in the fictional Alola League. Accordingly, winning the Alola League Tournament marks Ash’s first time to win an official Pokemon League contest.
Pokemon has run more than 1000 episodes throughout its 22-year run. Additionally, the franchise has also released 22 feature-length films that were released in cinemas. Subsequently, from an initial 150 Pokemon characters, the show has gone on to add more than 650 additional characters. Thus bringing the number of Pokemon characters to close to 800.
Given the following, the franchise has spawned a massive line of products that include trading cards, anime series, toys, among others. In addition, the series has built a strong following of hobbyists and fans throughout its run.
What’s Ash Ketchum Going To Do Now?
As Ash finally won all there is to it, there are talks that the series may soon be coming to an end. As stated, maintaining a show for 22 years figures to be a lifetime of work. But it’s this same kind of perseverance that encouraged fans and audiences to stick it out with Ash throughout his failures and downcast states.
As Ash finally became the Champion, those who have stood by the series for more than two decades could not help but be amazed and overwhelmed. That after a long time, the benefit has come to fruition. According to some fans on Twitter:
