How many toes should a cat have? You’d likely think it’s just the same as a normal human being, right? Ten toes and ten fingers.
If you’ve been close to cats for a long time, you know the correct answer is 18. Many cats on their front foot have five fingers and on each rear foot four toes.
However, there is a prevalent genetic mutation termed polydactyl, which may lead some strange cat to have additional fingers.
Sometimes these kitties are called Hemingway cats, since the one who named it had a polydactyl cat.
Nevertheless, how many fingers can a kitty have? Meet the current holder of the world record.
This is Paws who really resembles her name. Paws is a strange cat who has twenty-eight fingers that give her the Guinness World Record.
She has three extra fingers on each paw, front and rear, which is spread evenly out.
“This almost looks like the mitt of a catcher,” said her owner, Jeanne Martin, adding that when gripping narrow surfaces, having extra numbers on her front paws are a big help.

There’s a world record for anything. I hope she gets her rhythm on with those nice feet so she can be happy and healthy.
